The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are wondering what it takes to win a football match away from The Emirates after they lost 2-1 at St James Park to make it six Premier League away games in 2018 without a win. Petr Cech spoke after the game in an interview for the Arsenal website, claiming that the Gunners’ second-half performance sums up their current away form.

Arsenal, believe it or not, actually played well in the first half of yesterday’s visit to St James Park. Arsene Wenger’s side should’ve carried more than the 1-1 scoreline into half-time as Ayoze Perez equalised for the Magpies after Alexandre Lacazette opened the scoring. With the game there to be won for either side, Arsenal showed why they’re yet to pick up an away point this year when Matt Ritchie completed the Newcastle turn around to secure all three points without any form of reply from the Londoners.
The Arsenal fans propping our bar up will be looking at the Premier League table as Burnley sit just two points behind them in 7th, with the aim of cracking the top six. Arsene Wenger’s only respite comes in Europe, the Gunners face a huge Europa League semi-final tie against Atletico Madrid in just over a week and will be piling all their resources into the competition. Winning Europe’s second-tier competition provides direct entry into the Champions League as doing so via their league place is a long way away for Wenger.
Taking that into account, you can read our resident Arsenal fans’ verdict on Cech’s comments and the performance here:
One player came over to the fans today at the end and Wenger and certain personnel have the nerve to say get behind the team. Disgraceful.

@PetrCech was a great goalkeeper then a good keeper but now is time to go and be remembered for the quality he once had. He has served all teams he has played for well but he no longer good enough for the premiership. @Arsene @Arsenal @ArsenalFanTV @NBCSportsSoccer

Twice players came from behind Mustafi to attack the ball in front of him. This has to be a defensive weakness that players are exploiting. A painful defeat but only if we learn nothing from it, we will be defeated again in the same manner unless we plug the defensive lapses.
