‘No more stop gaps’ – Liverpool fans fume over links to re-sign 28-year-old international

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been checking The Liverpool Echo every day for potential transfer news, and the latest rumour to emerge has had some fans frustrated. It’s well documented that the club are in the market for a goalkeeper, but RB Leipzig ‘keeper, Peter Gulacsi, who was at Anfield for five years without making a senior appearance, is definitely not the answer.

The goalkeeping position at Liverpool is a tricky one. The club has struggled between the sticks since they lost Pepe Reina to Bayern Munich back in summer 2014. This summer, though, after four years of goalkeeping woes with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius in goal, Jurgen Klopp finally looks like he’ll be sorting our their problems by signing a new shot-stopper to ease the nerves of the Kopites propping our bar up.

Whilst this is great news for the fans, who have been expecting to see the likes of Jan Oblak or Alisson through the door, the realistic answer might not be so promising. The club could end up with a former youth team player in Peter Gulacsi. The Hungarian ‘keeper spent five years at Anfield without making a single appearance for the first-team before eventually being offloaded to RB Salzburg back in 2013. Now though, the club could be set to raid RB Leipzig to bring him home to Merseyside.

With that in mind, here’s what our irate Reds’ make of the Gulacsi rumours…

As you can see, the mood in the Tavern isn’t great when the name Gulacsi is mentioned, as the Liverpool fans are looking for someone with more quality.
