‘No punishment then?’ – West Ham fans on Twitter react to security update

The West Ham fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to news (from Sky Sports) that the London Stadium advisory group have announced an increase in stewarding and policing for the club’s next home game against Southampton. West Ham fans have been increasingly frustrated with their team over the last few weeks as results have failed to live up to expectations.

Relegation hangs in the balance for West Ham, as the Hammers propping our bar up have become increasingly worried that they’ll be plying their trade in the Championship next season. Little over a month ago results weren’t too much of a problem, however, after suffering three consecutive losses by a three-goal margin, many agitated hammers have become frustrated that the club is going in the wrong direction.

The London Stadium wasn’t a nice place to be last Saturday as Burnley ran out 3-0 winners in Stratford. The game was marred by a number of pitch invasions from disgruntled fans and ugly scenes followed as West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan had to be escorted out of the ground with five minutes left to play as the police were called in to deal with crowd trouble among home fans. The news of increased stewarding policing is sure to be a good thing for our local Hammers as they’ll be hoping for a better result and a quieter game against the Saints.
