No respite for Everton fans as potentially concerning reports emerge

Everton fans were left drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern over the weekend after seeing the Toffees lose at home to Burnley.

Ronald Koeman’s side had three days previous failed to register their first win in the group stages of the Europa League, drawing 2-2 with minnows Apollon Limassol, and a 1-0 loss at Sean Dyche’s Clarets on Sunday has hardly improved the mood among our resident Evertonians.

Their side are languishing in 16th place in the Premier League having won just two of their opening seven games, and there appears to be no respite for Toffees supporters if a recent report from Tuttosport (via TEAMtalk) is anything to go by.

And that’s because they report that Serie A giants Juventus have been keeping tabs on Everton forward Henry Onyekuru, who is currently out on loan at Anderlecht.

The 20-year-old moved to Goodison Park back in the summer but was immediately sent out on loan to the Belgian giants, for whom he has since scored five goals in 12 games in all competitions, four of which have come in the league.

All four of those goals have come in his last four Belgian First Division appearances to suggest that he is beginning to hit form, and it’s form which has reportedly attracted the interest of Italian heavyweights Juventus.

And with the Old Lady reportedly considering a move at the end of the season, Everton fans could see their striker crisis worsen even further in the summer.

Landlord’s verdict: Ronald Koeman is under extreme pressure at Everton following a poor start to the season, so seeing one of his players banging in the goals for Anderlecht is hardly going to make him feel much better.

Summer signing Henry Onyekuru joined the Belgian outfit on loan during the close season and has scored four goals in his last four league appearances, which is form that has reportedly got Juventus keeping a very close eye on his progression.

The European heavyweights will likely be able to offer him Champions League football come the end of the season, and although he is on the books at Everton, the Toffees may find it tricky keeping the Nigeria international should the Old Lady come calling.
