Everton fans have been left drowning their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern this week following the Toffees’ loss to Burnley on Sunday.
The Merseyside outfit had just three days previous mustered a frustrating 2-2 draw at home to Cypriot minnows Apollon Limassol in the Europa League, and a Jeff Hendrick strike midway through the first half on Sunday was enough to seal Sean Dyche’s men a deserved 1-0 victory.
That leaves manager Ronald Koeman under even greater pressure after their poor start to the season, and there may be more frustration to follow for our resident Evertonians if recent reports (via The Croydon Advertiser) are anything to go by.
And that’s because they report that interest is mounting in Toffees forward Ademola Lookman, who moved to Goodison Park back in January of this year after impressing for Charlton Athletic.
The 19-year-old came up through the ranks at the Valley and went on to make 49 senior appearances for the Addicks, in which time he managed 12 goals and three assists.
And that form earned him a move to Everton at the start of the year, and he hit the ground running with a goal just a minute into his debut in their 4-0 success over Manchester City on January 15.
However, just 11 first team appearances have followed since then for Lookman, and as such the likes of Crystal Palace, Huddersfield Town, and Tottenham are reportedly keeping tabs on his situation ahead of a possible move in January.
Lookman has yet to feature in the Premier League for Koeman’s men this term, having to make-do with just four appearances in the Carabao Cup and the Europa League, and were that to continue, he’d likely be considering his options come the New Year.
Landlord’s verdict: Ademola Lookman couldn’t have wished for a better start to his Everton career, coming off the bench and netting within a minute in their 4-0 drubbing of Manchester City back in January.
However, the 19-year-old hasn’t been given much of a chance to build on that with just 11 further first team appearances for the Toffees, with just four senior appearances this term particularly surprising given the club’s plight thus far.
Nonetheless, interest appears to be mounting in the youngster from other Premier League clubs, so it will be up to Everton manager Ronald Koeman to prove to the forward that he remains in his plans, otherwise a January move is a definite possibility.
