Southampton have not made a firm offer for long-term Tottenham target Leandro Damiao despite reports to the contrary according to the striker’s current club Internacional.
The ambitious St. Mary’s side were last week linked with a surprise £18 million offer for the Brazil international, but according to Metro, Internacional’s director of football Luis Cesar Souto de Moura doesn’t expect the player to be leaving this summer and he hasn’t received any offers for the forward.
“Nothing has come, clubs from everywhere sound him out all the time, but we don’t even consider that anymore, as there are too many enquiries but offers never come,” he told ‘Esporte Interativo.
“I am working with the idea of keeping the player, so that he doesn’t leave.”
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas was desperate to land the 23-year-old on deadline day in the January transfer window, but recently conceded that a potential deal fell apart due to the complex contract clauses with the striker’s ownership at Internacional.
“It wasn’t something we just did on the last day of the window. Third party ownership makes it difficult to do,” he admitted.
