After watching Manchester United collect the Premier League title with a 3-0 victory over Aston Villa last night, Manchester City fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are drowning their sorrows when news from The Sun arrives that captain Vincent Kompany has no desire to leave the club in the near future.
Despite only being one season into a new six-year contract there has been building transfer talk that Barcelona are eyeing the 27-year-old as the long-term replacement for Carles Puyol who probably has one season left at the Camp Nou.
Kompany has had a disappointing season with the former Premier League champions as they struggled to compete with a revitalised Manchester United but the Belgian international has insisted that he is happy with life with Roberto Mancini’s side.
He told The Sun: “I have no reason to go elsewhere.
“I am happy here, I have five years left and if you knew the plans for this team for the future… I consider that to be a real objective.”
Given his new reassurance City fans should be confident at keeping Kompany as they look to challenge United for the title next season.
Will Kompany keep his word? Let us know your thoughts below.
