Brendan Rodgers has raised smiles here in the Football Transfer Tavern after it was claimed by Caught Offside that the manager has taken steps to reassure fans over the future of Pepe Reina.
The keeper has been linked with a move to Catalan side Barcelona of late and it seems that despite the club being on the hunt for a keeper after Victor Valdes made clear his intent to leave, the Spanish stopper will not be leaving Anfield for the Camp Nou anytime soon.
Northern Irishman Rodgers noted that: “We’re into that silly season now. He’s not for sale. He’s got three years on his contract now.”
As one of our punters quips, the manager is quite right when he claims that silly season is now in full swing and the rumours are flying around thick and fast and whilst the Pepe Renia to Barcelona is not the craziest thing we have heard by a long shot, it is certainly something that Liverpool fans are not taking too kindly to hearing on a daily basis.
Not only has Reina been linked to Barcelona but Liverpool have been linked with one of Rodgers’ former players, Swansea City keeper Michael Vorm who has been in fantastic form this season.
Will Rodgers keep Reina at Liverpool this summer? Are his best days behind him? Let us know your thoughts below.
