Ben Godfrey has heaped praise on star striker Teemu Pukki after the Finn’s goal versus Liverpool in the club’s opening game of the Premier League season.
Norwich City were on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline, however, Pukki managed to score on his debut in the top flight.
Godfrey was full of praise for his teammate and said: “That’s no shock, we know what he can do. We saw it last season, he’s a goal-scorer, you give him chances and he’ll take them.”
“I’m absolutely buzzing for him, he deserves it and I’m sure there will be many more coming his way that he scores this season.” (Source: Pink Un)
Pukki was in stunning form last season in the Championship as he won the golden boot and player of the year awards. The Finland international managed to score 29 goals in the second tier as he spearheaded the Norfolk side’s promotion into the Premier League.
The 29-year-old enjoyed an impressive start to life in the Premier League as he ran the Liverpool backline ragged. Pukki managed to have the joint-most shots at goal, as well as play the second-most key passes.
However, at times, Pukki found himself stranded upfront, and that can be seen by his lack of touches of the ball. The Finn only had 14 touches of the ball in 90 minutes, and if Norwich City want to avoid freezing out their lone striker, they will need someone who can give him the ball more often.
Pukki is clearly a talented finisher, as shown with his goal during the game versus Liverpool. However, he faces the danger of being stuck up front alone, and Farke must ensure that doesn’t occur more often.
