All in the Football Transfer Tavern have been impressed with the quality of Norwich City’s summer transfer captures so far and The Telegraph today reports that the Canaries will now complete the signing of FC Twente star Leroy Fer within 48 hours in a £4.5 million deal.
Chris Hughton has already secured the services of Blackburn Rovers full back Martin Olsson, Holland international Ricky van Wolfswinkel, and England Under-21 winger Nathan Redmond while loanee Javier Garrido has joined on a permanent basis from Lazio as the former Newcastle United manager tries to improve on last season’s 11th place finish.
Fer, 23, is expected to be the latest to arrive at Carrow Road after the club agreed a fee with the Enschede-based club for the international central midfielder and he will be part of the Norwich side that fly out to the USA for pre-season training on Monday.
The former Feyenoord man was very close to signing for David Moyes’ Everton during the January transfer window before complications with his medical ruined the deal and he had to return to Holland with the tail between his legs. New Toffees manager Roberto Martinez was thought to be still interested in Fer but has failed to back-up this interest with a firm bid.
That is likely to see Fer becoming the latest to join Hughton revolution at Carrow Road with impressive Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld also expected to sign in a £7 million deal.
