Norwich City are the latest Premier League club to be eyeing a move for 15-year-old Irish star Charlie Allen, according to Football Insider.
The Irish attacking midfielder is reportedly one of the hottest prospects in the United Kingdom after his breakthrough into the first-team of Northern Irish side Linfield.
Allen has already had trials at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, even holding talks with the Lilywhites over a move to north London during the summer.
Chelsea have also joined their fellow Premier League rivals in eyeing up Allen, and are discussing the possibility of taking the player on trial.
The 15-year-old seemingly possesses bucket loads of talent at such a tender age after it was revealed the Linfield manager was seriously considering including him in their squad for the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round first leg match versus Rosenborg back in July (via The 4th Official).
He was praised by the academy director at Linfield, who called him ‘one of the brightest prospects’ (via Belfast Telegraph).
The teenage prodigy already has five caps for the Northern Ireland under-17s, scoring a solitary goal (via Transfermarkt).
Norwich had an overhaul of their academy in the summer with as many as six new players joining the under-23 set-up at Carrow Road. Rob Nizet, Archie Mair, Aidan Fitzpatrick, Dan Adshead, Rocky Bushiri, and Charlie Gilmour all made the move to the Norfolk side this summer (via Pink Un).
Signing Allen would continue the trend of signing young players for little fees for manager Daniel Farke, who admitted Norwich were ‘paying for sins of the past’ with regards to transfers.
This transfer seems to be following the club’s current policy of buying younger players due to a lack of funds, and given the hype surrounding Allen, it seems to be a positive move.
