The president of Lorient Loïc Féry is said to be pleased with the offer made by Norwich, however, whether the move happens or not comes down to Claude-Maurice, who is yet to respond.
The Canaries expect a quick reply from the attacker in a hope to close a deal before Thursday’s 5pm deadline.
Links with Claude-Maurice would go against the word of manager Daniel Farke, who said just a week ago he wouldn’t be adding to his squad.
Still, the 21-year-old enjoyed a fine campaign in Ligue 2 last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further four, as Lorient finished in sixth place. Interestingly, the former French youth international plays on the left of midfield and would be competing against Onel Hernandez and Todd Cantwell.
Hernandez enjoyed a brilliant campaign as Norwich City won promotion to the Premier League. The Cuban scored eight goals and contributed 10 assists, including four contributions in the last eight Championship games of the season.
Meanwhile, Cantwell has enjoyed a good pre-season and was praised following his performance against Champions League qualifiers Atalanta, where he scored the opening goal.
A move for Claude-Maurice would increase the competition on the left-wing, which may be a good thing for the Canaries, considering the fact their fairly quiet approach to the transfer market this summer was described as ‘defeatist’ by pundits on talkSPORT. If they can get extra bodies in, perhaps the club would be in a better place to potentially stave off relegation.
