In this instalment of our TT Roundup, Football Transfer Tavern have gathered three of the biggest stories to have involved Norwich City recently and have provided our thoughts on the reports published.
Disasi catches the attention of Canaries
Norwich City are impressed by Stade Reims defender Axel Disasi after his emergence in Ligue 1 this season, according to Footmercato.net (via Pink Un).
The young centre-back has been in brilliant form for the French side and has started all 13 top-flight games this campaign, with Reims having conceded just six goals.
Disasi was part of the side that beat league champions Paris Saint Germain 2-0 at the Parcs Des Prince earlier in the season.
Disasi has enjoyed a storming campaign for the French side, and is helping his side hold the best defence in the top-flight of French football.
His defensive qualities are amplified by his statistics this season, as he’s made the most clearances and won the second-most aerial duels per game for the Stade Auguste-Delaune side (via WhoScored).
His age and quality make him a perfect player for the side, who even if they suffer relegation from the English top-flight would hold the quality to bounce back.
Jamal Lewis returns from international duty injured
Jamal Lewis returned to Norfolk with a knee injury as Daniel Farke’s side saw another patient added to their treatment table this season.
The 21-year-old defender returned back from international duty after the side’s 0-0 draw at home to the Netherlands and will be assessed ahead of the game against Everton.
Lewis joins Christoph Zimmermann, Grant Hanley on the treatment table with the Canaries sitting bottom of the Premier League.
The club hasn’t had the best of luck with injuries, which suggests something must be wrong with the training programme the players are put through.
Their issue is similar to the problem that used to plague Arsenal under former manager Arsene Wenger, who lost 13,161 days to injury between the 2004/2005 and 2014/2015 campaigns (via The Telegraph).
As seen injuries can have an adverse effect and will hamper Norwich in achieving their targets this year, like it did the north London side, who won no league title in the decade they suffered injury hell.
Norfolk side interested in Camarasa
Norwich City are interested in signing out-of-favour Crystal Palace man Victor Camarasa, according to the Sun (via Pink Un).
He was on loan at Cardiff City last season, and despite the club’s eventual relegation from the Premier League, he was in sparkling form. The Spaniard racked up five goals and four assists in 32 top-flight games, both club-highs for the Bluebirds.
His experience in the top-flight would make him a better option than both Todd Cantwell and Emiliano Buendia, who have struggled to contribute any goals in their last seven appearances for the Canaries. He would also add numbers to what has proved to be an injury-ravaged Norwich squad this season.
Norwich fans, what do you make of the three stories? Let us know your thoughts!
