Celtic hitman Gary Hooper is a man in demand during the January transfer window and reports in the Football Transfer Tavern today suggest that Norwich City are close to signing the 24-year-old.
talkSPORT report that Canaries boss Chris Hughton is confident of landing the English-born forward this month
Hooper has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe during the last five years, firstly during his time with Scunthorpe United in the Championship and then after moving to north of the border to Celtic Park in 2010.
It was thought that Celtic would hang onto the striker during the latest transfer window due to their recent success in the Champions League but talkSPORT suggest that the Scottish champions have resigned themselves to losing their star man.
Hooper has 18 months left on his current contract for the SPL giants and it is understood he wants to move back to England soon to further his chances of gaining his first senior cap for Roy Hodgson’s Three Lions.
Other clubs known to be interested include Southampton, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Liverpool but it appears that Norwich have taken the lead in the race to capture him after holding talks over a move to Carrow Road.
