The resident Blues in the Transfer Tavern were bemoaning their side’s below-par performance in the Carabao Cup last night.
Chelsea had a great opportunity to set the tone for their semi-final cup-tie and take a commanding lead against Arsenal in the first-leg, but they failed to produce their best form on the night. Antonio Conte’s side laboured to a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge after a relatively dull 90 minutes of football. The distinct lack of quality in the game was rather surprising consider the two sides played out an enthralling 2-2 draw at the start of the month.
In the aftermath of proceedings, the Chelsea fans were full of criticism for their side’s performance on Twitter, and they also had some especially strong words for Danny Drinkwater who started in central midfield last night.
Drinkwater signed for Chelsea from Leicester in the summer for a fee in the region of £35 million following two very impressive seasons at the heart of The Foxes midfield, but he has failed to win over the entriety of Chelsea’s fan base as of yet.
Although some of the Blues faithful are calling for their fellow supporters to have patience with Drinkwater, the majority have already decided he is below the standard expected at the club.
Here’s what the fans had to say about Drinkwater’s performance last night…
Danny Drinkwater has got to be removed from this game. He has offered nothing! Not Chelsea quality

He is actually good at nothing. He is only better than baka because that one is worse at everything
— Abiodun Akerele (@Abbeypomps) January 10, 2018
Danny Drinkwater did nothing all game. Fabregas is no longer assists like he used to, but at least he holds on to the ball.

Danny Drinkwater, Bang Average footballer. Found out in a better team with top quality players. Does not bring anything to the Chelsea team
