The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern won’t be happy today as they read a story in The Daily Mail, linking Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish with a move to North London, as Spurs are leading the race to sign the youngster. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder could flourish under Mauricio Pochettino, although the fans would rather see the club move for more high profile targets.

Tottenham aren’t the only club who have shown an interest in the Villa man. Manchester United have a reported interest, although the fact that they’re making early moves to sign players and haven’t lodged a bid for the unpredictable midfielder could mean they’re no longer interested. The deal for Grealish certainly isn’t a bad one, depending on the price you pay for him, with a fee of £40 million ridiculously high, even in today’s market.
Daniel Levy will have to test the resolve of Dr Tony Xia if he is to sign Grealish, Villa are struggling desperately against financial fair play and are on the brink of entering administration, meaning that the club will most likely be taking offers for players well below their valuation as they look to survive in any way possible at the moment. The form of Grealish speaks for itself, but whether he can do it in the Premier League is another question.

Not even good enough for our youth team.

Meanwhile Liverpool are spending on good players, Grealish will really take us to the next level

Is this the risk taking Poch was talking about. Hopefully there are signings with a bit more substance on their way.

Pocc signed a new 5 year deal to bring the likes of Jack grealish in. I don’t think this is what he meant when he said “the club need to take risks” ……

I live in the midlands. My Villa mates say he won’t improve squad. He is ok but not Spurs quality

No thanks. Nowhere near what we need

Jack Grealish has the raw attributes to become a top player, but with Pochettino saying he was looking at experienced internationals to improve the side, you can understand our local Spurs fans disappointment with the Grealish links.
