Not likely to happen… But what a signing this would be for Tottenham

The Spurs fans in the Transfer Tavern are ecstatic that their club might finally be making a signing soon, and it looks to be a good one.

Reports from France via the Independent have suggested that Tottenham have had an offer rejected by Manchester United for their French superstar, Anthony Martial.

Whilst this move seems unlikely given how much United would ask for Martial and the fact that he will likely feature in United’s first team a lot more this season after a great pre-season, the 21-year-old would be a great fit for Spurs.

Although the Red Devils’ fans love the winger, Martial has always seemed quite under-appreciated by the club, something that certainly wouldn’t happen in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Spurs already have one of the best front lines in the league and adding the former Monaco man to the mix would turn it into one of the best in Europe.

Martial only needed ten minutes against West Ham to grab a goal and an assist, proving his quality.

The one stumbling block would be United’s asking price.

Our landlord reckons they would be open to letting the player go but not for cheaper than they bought him for a few years ago.

That’ll mean an absolute minimum of around £36 million and that doesn’t fit in well with Daniel Levy’s ideas of spending money in the transfer market.

We’ve seen crazier things happen and if this transfer rumour turned into reality then Tottenham would be adding one of the best young talents in the world to an already young front line.
