‘Not surprised’, ‘Clearly out of his depth’ – Leicester fans hardly surprised by major club news

Leicester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern were again left frustrated by their side after seeing the Foxes only muster a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom on Monday night, a result which leaves the 2015/16 Premier League champions in the bottom three.

The Midlands outfit went into their clash with the Baggies having won just one of their opening seven league matches, and they looked on course for a fifth defeat of the campaign and third in a row at the King Power Stadium when Nacer Chadli’s fine free-kick left Kasper Schmeichel helpless midway through the second half. However, the Foxes responded through Riyad Mahrez ten minutes from time, although they were unable to get the winner which would have moved them out of the relegation zone, and may well have kept manager Craig Shakespeare in a job.

And that’s because reports this afternoon suggest that the 53-year-old has been sacked as Leicester boss after just seven months in charge at the King Power Stadium, in which time he helped the club avoid relegation from the Premier League by winning seven of his 13 games in charge at the rear end of last term, be it temporarily or permanently.

However, a poor start to this season, in which they sit third-bottom having picked up just six points from their opening eight games, has forced the Leicester hierarchy to act and part company with Shakespeare, in news which has unsurprisingly stimulated quite a reaction from Foxes supporters on Twitter.

And it’s fair to say that many aren’t overly surprised by the club’s decision…
