Nottingham Forest and Bolton hunt Belgian defender

As it’s a Saturday there are quite a few Championship supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern after their respective games today and rumours are rife among a group standing by the fruit machine that Manchester City defender Dedryck Boyata is set to move to the Championship soon.

Sky Sports suggest that Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers are ready to battle it out to secure the 22-year-old defender on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Boyata has recently returned to City after they cut short his loan spell at Dutch side FC Twente earlier this month after he struggled to gain first team football for Steve McClaren’s side. Roberto Mancini admitted that they want to loan him out to a team that will select him on a weekly basis.

New Forest boss, Alex McLeish wants Boyata to reinforce his backline at the City Ground while Bolton are looking to renew allegiances after the defender enjoyed a success spell on loan at the Reebok Stadium last season.

After just one start with the Eredivisie side during his recent loan stint, the defender who can play either right back or centre back will be looking for a more successful move this time out.
