Now is the best time for Man United to launch emotional move for £81m-rated superstar

Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to put last season behind them after a disappointing Premier League campaign.

Jose Mourinho ended the season without a trophy for the first time as Manchester United manager since taking over the club. The Red Devils finished 19 points behind rivals Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title and lost in the FA Cup final to Chelsea. They were knocked out of the Champions League by Sevilla.

The Portuguese knows he has a huge summer ahead of him if he is to return United to the top of the table and must get his transfers right after watching City splash the cash last summer. He added Alexis Sanchez to his attack in January, but the Chilean is yet to find his best form at Old Trafford. Another attacker could be signed in the summer.

With Zinedine Zidane announcing his departure from Real Madrid, there might be no better time to try and lure Cristiano Ronaldo back to Manchester. Valued at £81m by Transfermarkt, the 33-year-old reportedly wants a new deal to put his pay in line with the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi. United are one of the few clubs in the world who could afford such wages meaning they should take advantage if Real fail to find an agreement.

Ronaldo has netted 44 goals in 44 appearances in all competitions this season, and he is showing no signs of slowing down. If United want to lift another Premier League title, their former hero could be the man to help them do it.
