There is a split in opinion from the Man U fans in the Transfer Tavern tonight. Some think Gareth Bale would be a good addition to the side, others think the exact opposite.
Recent reports from the Express have revealed that Jose Mourinho is still interested in gaining Gareth Bale’s services, but will be waiting until next season to make it happen.
If you’re confused by this then don’t worry, our landlord is as well.
At 28-years-old, Gareth Bale is getting to the point where he will start slowing down both physically, especially after a relatively injury-stricken campaign last term.
Some might argue that has already happened following an injury-plagued time at Real Madrid.
The landlord still thinks the Welsh superstar is a player with something to offer, but why spend £90 million on a player who you would likely only get one or two good seasons out of before he started to drop off?
At least signing him now would mean at least a few years of Bale still at his best, granted if he could stay injury free that is. Not only that, but his arrival would be a monumental statement of intent from a club so desperately aiming to restore former glories.
As much as our landlord disagrees with United’s spending over the past few seasons, he reckons it should be now or never for Mourinho to go in for Bale.
If he stays fit he would be a world class addition to an already fantastic squad, so why wait?
Get him in now or not at all, it would surely be a waste of that much money to spend it on a then 29-year-old.
