‘Nowhere near good enough’ – Liverpool fans seriously underwhelmed by recent injury update

Liverpool supporters have been making a lot of noise in the Transfer Tavern this week after seeing their side become the first team to beat Manchester City in the Premier League this season with a thrilling 4-3 success at Anfield on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the runaway leaders off the back of a 17-match unbeaten run in all competitions, a streak which has seen them move above both Arsenal and Tottenham into the division’s top four. And the Reds tightened their grip on a Champions League place as goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane, and Mohamed Salah sealed the three points for the Merseyside giants, in turn inflicting a first league loss of the campaign on Pep Guardiola’s City, but ultimately is unlikely to derail their march towards the title.

Subsequently, there have been many delighted Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are daring to dream about what their team could go on to achieve in the second half of the campaign, be it domestically or on the European stage.

In the meantime though, there has been plenty for our resident Reds fans to get their teeth into, not least a recent tweet from the club’s official Twitter handle, which notes that captain Jordan Henderson has returned to training ahead of their trip to Swansea City on Monday.

The England international hasn’t featured for the Merseysiders since their 3-3 draw with Arsenal on December 22, thus missing their victories over Swansea, Leicester City, Burnley, and of course City in the last few weeks.

Yet the midfielder has since returned to training and thus to contention ahead of the trip to South Wales on Monday night, in news which has stimulated quite a negative response from many underwhelmed Liverpudlians on Twitter…
