Manchester United are believed to be interested in tempting Danish U’21 International Nicolai Boilesen with a move to Old Trafford.
The 19 year old has had a brief taste of life working with the English champion’s as he trained with the squad back in 2009. The hot prospect went on to join Ajax where he is currently contracted until 2013, after five years at youth level with Brondby.
Since emerging on the senior scene at the Amsterdam Arena, a handful of impressive displays have also put European Champions Barcelona on red alert to request the youngster’s assistance.
The Catalonian heavy weights appear not to be the biggest obstacle for Sir Alex Ferguson to prise Boilesen away from the Eredivisie championship, as it is made quite clear that he is not for sale, as a statement from a source close to the club said the following…
“He deserves a new contract. It ends in 2013 but it’s good to add more years. We want him here – not anywhere else,”
You have to believe that Ajax will be more than keen to tie up a new contract, keep hold of him for a season or two, and then flog him for a ridiculous amount of money.
He certainly appears to be a name for the future, and with the interest from two of the games giants already keeping tabs on the 6ft defender, you have to feel it’s just a matter of WHEN… not IF he will vacate Holland.
It’s almost traditional that the Dutch league is a starting block for superstars in football, and as soon as they are good enough to fly the nest… you can be certain that’s what will happen. I should expect to see him at the back for a European powerhouse in the future.
