The Daily Mail have good news for Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern as they claim that double player of the year Juan Mata is happy to remain at the club under Jose Mourinho.
The fan favourite has inexplicably been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge in recent weeks and was even reported to be a potential part of a swap deal involving Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney.
Now it seems that no such thing will be happening and with a new five-year deal in the bag, Mata is happier than ever.
The former Valencia schemer noted: “I was so relaxed about all the speculation about me leaving.
“I spoke to the club and spoke to the manager who said I was very important to them. So there’s nothing to say about it.
“It’s always very good to hear you are important to the club. Everyone wants to feel they are important.”
One issue that Mourinho may well be sweating over however is the future of defender David Luiz who is again subject of interest from Barcelona and as we all know, the lure of the Catalan giants can be hard to resist.
Mourinho was at one time thought to be ready to offload the Brazilian international, yet now it seems he has done a U-turn and is ready to work with the former Benfica man to include him in his first team plans.
Chelsea fans. How relieved are you that Mata has committed to the Blues? Do you believe David Luiz will stay this summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
