Here in the Football Transfer Tavern we are taking in the latest news from the Daily Mail who claim that Arsenal have big transfer plans this summer and it all starts with the sale of misfiring forward Gervinho.
The club are apparently hoping a bid of around £12 million will come in for the forward and this in turn will help them to finance a move for Liverpool stopper Pepe Reina. The club have been on the lookout for a new keeper and have been linked with a host of stoppers, including Barcelona’s Victor Valdes, yet have apparently settled on the Liverpool number one after losing faith in Wojciech Szczesny.
Gervinho is being tracked by Turkish giants Galatasaray and after his impressive African Cup of Nations appearances it seems a move may be on the cards. Arsenal are willing to let the player go in order to begin their summer rebuild and the much needed cash that can be reinvested from the Gervinho sale is something Wenger has his eyes firmly upon.
That is not the only move that the Gunners have been linked with and again the club cannot shake the rumours that they will make a play for Swansea City’s Ashley Williams as soon as the summer transfer window officially opens.
Will Gervinho exit and Reina arrive? Rate this rumour below.
