Stunned looks can be seen around the Football Transfer Tavern this evening.
Jason Burt from The Telegraph claims that Tottenham will bid for Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window.
Burt suggests that Andre Villas-Boas is keen to land the 25-year-old and will step up his interest if he can offload Emmanuel Adebayor in winter window.
The news that Andre Villas-Boas is planning to remove Adebayor from the wage bill comes as no surprise to punters in the bar as it was well known that Spurs tried to sell him in the summer but to no avail.
Spurs fans are now hoping that the Togo international will now leave so that the Lilywhites can find a suitable replacement with Burt indicating that the United striker is the prime transfer target.
Hernandez has publicly revealed that he had become frustrated at life under David Moyes at Old Trafford as he continues to play second fiddle to Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney in the United attack.
In a season that culminates in a World Cup, the Mexican international striker will be desperate for regular football and that could see him looking for a move away for Old Trafford with Spurs looming large.
North London rivals Arsenal have also been linked with Hernandez but United seem unlikely to sell him to one of their fierce rivals in the Premier League.
