The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have enjoyed watching their side this season, with Jurgen Klopp’s men impressing both domestically and in Europe. They’ve secured a top-four finish, whilst they’re also set to take on Real Madrid in the Champions League final next week.
However, despite the success of Klopp’s men, it hasn’t been a great season for everyone. Despite the celebrations that they could be enjoying in just under a week’s time, there is a sense that some players are on borrowed time
As a result, next season could prove to be a make-or-break period in their respective Liverpool careers. One player that should definitely be fearing that is Adam Lallana. His long-term Anfield future is far from secure.
It’s not even just that Lallana has to improve next season. More important than that, he just needs to actually play. He’s been out of action for most of the season, and he can’t afford to miss any more game time. Liverpool won’t want to keep players that are never available on their books, and so the pressure is definitely on.
Not to mention, in his absence, Liverpool’s current crop of players have gone to the next level. In particular, his midfield rivals like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and even Jordan Henderson have gone to the next level – and so he’s far from guaranteed to walk back into this team.
He’s also, let’s not forget, already 30-years-old. Injury problems on his behalf are only going to worsen, and so he needs to prove himself.
