Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern will want Pep Guardiola to build upon last season’s success and will be expecting a couple of new names come through the door at the Etihad Stadium.
The Spaniard managed his side to an impressive Premier League title last year and he will be looking to retain it, whilst also trying to go all the way in the Champions League, something the Citizens’ owners long for.
However, according to reports, he could lose one of his key squad players to one of his former employers this summer, as they look to strengthen themselves. According to a report in The Sun, Ilkay Gundogan is a target for Barcelona as they see him as a perfect replacement for Andres Iniesta.
The 27-year-old, who is in Russia with Germany for the World Cup, is understood to be happy at the Etihad, however, it is thought he would find it difficult to turn down if he is offered the chance to join the Spanish giants.
The Manchester City fans in the Tavern would feel disappointed if they saw a player like Gundogan depart this summer. Despite a serious setback through injury, the midfielder played a key part and has become an important squad player since his arrival in 2016.
The locals in the bar will not be willing to let him move, unless they brought in Jorginho from Napoli this summer, as they would feel that there would be too big a gap to fill if they did not already have someone in place.
