‘One of the worst I’ve seen’ – Everton fans destroy one man following Lyon loss

Everton supporters were left to drown their sorrows in the Transfer Tavern on Thursday night after seeing the Toffees crash out of the Europa League at the hands of French giants Lyon, who eased past the Merseysiders 3-0 at the Groupama Stadium.

David Unsworth’s men went into their fourth group stage clash having picked up just one point from their opening three games, and ideally needing a win to keep their faint qualification hopes alive. However, it was a terrible evening for the Toffees as second half goals from Bertrand Traore, Houssem Aouar, and Memphis Depay knocked the Premier League club out of the competition, with their misery further compounded by a red card to midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin ten minutes from time.

Thus, several of our resident Evertonians have been expressing their displeasure at their side for another meek display, and one that ultimately means that their European adventure for this season will last just two more games.

And one man who has received much criticism for his efforts on Thursday is former Manchester United man Schneiderlin, who made the move to Goodison Park back in January of this year, and went on to perform reasonably well for the Toffees in the second half of last season.

However, the 27-year-old has looked far from his best so far this time round and was sent off for a second time this season against Lyon yesterday, much to the anger and frustration of several Everton supporters on Twitter…
