Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are expecting things to get busy in the next few days once Louis van Gaal officially arrives at Old Trafford.
Sources at Football Italia reckon some Red Devils transfer movement is imminent.
However, it is regarding the outgoings of two of the club’s longest serving players with the futures of Nani and Patrice Evra both up for discussion.
AC Milan are said to be considering a move for the Portuguese winger, whilst Evra’s proposed move to Juventus could be called off following the sudden resignation of Antonio Conte yesterday.
Nani has previously been linked with a move to Juventus and Inter Milan and is said to be surplus to requirements following the arrival of van Gaal – so much so he is available for a cut price £6.5 million.
That makes him a cheaper alternative to Milan’s other targets, however the stumbling block could be his wages with the former Sporting Lisbon winger earning £2 million-a-year at Old Trafford.
The fact the San Siro giants have no European football to compete in this season means they must operate on a tight budget.
Evra meanwhile is considering his future after Conte’s contract at Juventus was terminated by mutual consent.
Conte was believed to be a large part behind Evra’s decision to make the switch to Turin and the French defender is now mulling over whether to proceed in joining the Bianconeri with former Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri the new man in charge.
