Birmingham, Stoke, Liverpool and Spurs have all been linked with moves for Jones especially as Bruce himself has sought to recruit new options upfront. Yet despite being on the look out Bruce stated in The Guardian he does not plan on letting Jones go.
“We all know in football that every body’s got their price, whether you’re Steven Gerrard or Cristiano Ronaldo, but the one thing I want to do here is try and build a squad. If something out there blows our brains … but with no disrespect to Stoke or Birmingham, can they afford him? I very much doubt it. It’s not just the transfer fee but wages, all the rest of it. I just can’t see it.”
And John Terry will probably agree with Bruce as he once claimed the Jones was “the most difficult” Premier League forward to mark. This season he has proved inconsistent grabbing 6 goals in his 19 appearances leading Bruce to admit his dealings with the Trinidad and Tobago have been frustrating,
“On his day I think you can look at Kenwyne and say he’s worth £40m, then on another day you’ll think, ‘Come on you’,”
