Arsenal’s opening weekend defeat to Manchester City felt somewhat like a sense of deja vu, as the Premier League champions overturned the Gunners with ease at the Emirates.
There was little in the way of change in style for Unai Emery’s first game in charge, and the team very much looked like an Arsene Wenger team still, as they struggled to cope with the intensity and quality shown from their Manchester visitors.
The performance from the Gunners can not be taken in to too much consideration given it was against the reigning champions, but there was signs of worry, and some of those signs were all too familiar to Arsenal fans who have grown increasingly frustrated over the years at seeing the same old problems.
One of those problems was in the centre of the midfield again, where it seemed that the need for a midfield enforcer was more apparent than ever, and we at the Transfer Tavern think the Gunners should make a move for Leicester City midfielder Wilfried N’didi.
The Foxes midfielder has developed well over the last two years since arriving in England, and a strong showing at the World Cup enhanced his reputation further.
While the Gunners have plenty of ball players within the squad, there is still a lack of someone in the team who is simply going to break up play, disrupt the opposition, and put plainly, put himself about in the middle.
N’didi fits this mould, and while Leicester will no doubt want to keep one of their key players, he might well be tempted to make a move to London and help guide the Gunners back in towards Champions League contention.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
