Chelsea will need to have a busy week or so, with the Blues still needing significant improvement before the summer transfer window slams shut. Robert Green and Jorginho have come into Stamford Bridge already, but with a clear need for more quality, additional signings are still likely wanted.
Fortunately, it appears as though one player has his eyes set on a move to Stamford Bridge. According to the Mirror, Zaha has told teammates that he wants to leave Crystal Palace for Chelsea. Chelsea’s interest in a move, at this point, is unclear – but it appears as though Zaha is eager for it to happen.
However, the Blues should certainly think twice about a move, and though the Ivorian is interested, they should instead consider a few alternatives.
After all, he struggled at Man Utd prior to returning to Selhurst Park, and that should be a major warning sign for the club. Not to mention, his injury record isn’t great either.
With that said, Chelsea would be far better off chasing these 1 of these 2 attackers instead of Zaha…
Anthony Martial reportedly wants to leave Old Trafford, and though the Red Devils likely wouldn’t want to sell to a Premier League rival, the Blues should try their very best.
He’s able to play across the attack, and his technical ability and goalscoring are amongst the finest in the English top flight.
Like Zaha, he’s proven his worth in the Premier League, and Maurizio Sarri wouldn’t have any concerns about his ability to adapt to life in SW6.
He’d be a huge capture, albeit a very expensive one.
Memphis Depay is another player that tried to make it at Old Trafford, but it just wasn’t to be for him.
He struggled to make an impact in the Premier League, and he left with his stock at an all-time low.
However, since then, he’s turned his career around at Lyon. Last season, in particular, he was simply stunning, and his record of 19 goals and 13 assists put him amongst Europe’s best.
A winger by trade, he’d offer a real burst of energy down the flanks, whilst he’s also a physical presence.
