After losing the confidence of his manager Roy Hodgson, Christian Benteke could be on his way out of Crystal Palace this summer.

Het Laatste Nieuws (via Sport Witness) reports the Eagles are looking to offload the Belgian, who has yet to score a goal this season, in a move that could just bring about change at Selhurst Park in the long run.

With a No.9 like Benteke in the side, Crystal Palace have not been afraid to play direct, something encouraged by Hodgson.

When he was in form, going long to Benteke who could control and hold up the ball before laying it off to Wilfried Zaha, was a pretty effective tactic. It caused teams, even in the Premier League top six, so many problems when they have had to come up against it.

With the less physical Michy Batshuayi leading the line, though, the above is not a tactic the Eagles have been able to continue using.

In contrast to his compatriot who thrives with his back towards goal outside of the box, Batshuayi thrives inside of it with his predatory instincts, instincts that have helped Crystal Palace claim victory against Leicester City and Burnley.

Had he been at Selhurst Park from the start of the season, things could have looked a lot different for Crystal Palace in regards to their league position.

Ultimately, swapping a big No.9 like Benteke for another type of striker permanently, may be the way Hodgson and Crystal Palace decide to go.
