Everton left their mark in the summer transfer window after bringing in the likes of Kurt Zouma and Lucas Digne, who have both started the season well, while Richarlison arrived at Goodison Park for big money and has already made quite the impression.
Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes also joined the Merseyside club last month from Barcelona and, while neither player has yet to feature due to injury, the pair will undoubtedly bring much quality to Marco Silva’s side once they are fully fit.
Ultimately, the additions of all of the above names — as well as Brazilian attacking midfielder Bernard — are an indication of what Everton hope to achieve going forward.
However, if the Toffees want to make a real statement, then they must launch an all-out assault for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey once the transfer window reopens in January.
Ramsey, who is valued at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, is no closer to extending his current deal — which expires next summer — with the Gunners, and the north London club could be forced to sell him before.
And, if that does turn out to be the case, then Everton should do all they can to lure the Welshman to Goodison Park.
The arrival of Ramsey would gift Everton with a technical player in the middle of the park, capable of both linking up the play and scoring goals.
With Ramsey, alongside Idrissa Gueye, Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and either one of Theo Walcott or Bernard, Everton would have a midfield and attacking midfield that could help the club bridge the gap with the Premier League top six.
Chelsea have previously been linked with the former Wales captain (via Daily Mail) and could reignite their interest in the new year, but that cannot faze Everton.
If the club are to truly realise its Champions League dream, then they must continue with their ambitious approach to transfer windows and target players such as Ramsey.
