Opinion: Liverpool should add 30-year-old to build Europe’s best midfield with Fabinho and Keita

The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern believe that with the additions of Fabinho and Naby Keita, both of whom will join the club on July 1st, they will have one of Europe’s best midfields.

The duo will provide a brilliant balance of defensive solidity and offensive class, and it’s fair to say that they will be a force to be reckoned with next season. However, could they go one better?

Another major midfield signing would take the Liverpool team to the next level, and particularly alongside Fabinho and Keita, they would form one-third of what would undoubtedly be one of Europe’s best midfields. One player that could be perfect for the role is Radja Nainggolan.

Nainggolan has been building a hefty reputation over the last few years as one of the best midfielders around. Best known for his incredible quality on the ball, he’s fantastic at passing, dribbling, and shooting – and when combined, they come together to form a deadly combination.

He’s also quite an aggressive player on the field, and that would make him right at home in the Premier League. He wouldn’t get messed around on the pitch, and given the physical nature of the English top flight, that’s important.

Whilst Keita and Fabinho would offer more of a defensive outlook, Nainggolan’s priorities would lie going forward. His quality on the ball is truly second to none, and though he’d be able to help out defensively, the impact that he could have going forward would be huge.

At 30-years-old, he wouldn’t be a cheap option, but in terms of raw quality, Liverpool genuinely wouldn’t be able to do better.

With Nainggolan in the side, Liverpool’s midfield from last season would be unrecognisable, and that’s a good thing. They’d be in with a real chance of achieving success on every stage.
