Marcel Brands wasted no time in establishing a solid relationship with Barcelona in the summer and a recent report from Spain suggests he is hoping to use that to Everton's advantage in the near future.

Andre Gomes, Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina all walked into Goodison Park in the summer after swapping Catalonia for Merseyside. In a summer in which Marco Silva stepped into the hotseat and Brands arrived as director of football, the three transfers were viewed as coups for the club - a sign that winds of change were blowing at Everton.

All three players have made bright openings to their time in English football, with the former particularly impressing with his ice-cold approach and tantalising technical ability.

But Everton's standout signing so far has been Richarlison. The Brazilian boy wonder has silenced his doubters by scoring nine goals from 19 Premier League appearances since arriving from Watford, and his performances have endeared him to the Goodison Park faithful in the space of just a few short months.

Despite Everton's strong contingent of attacking talent, there is a suggestion that Brands could conclude a deal for a star who could have a similar impact to that of Richarlison.

According to a recent report from Spanish media outlet Marca, Everton have renewed their interest in Malcom - a player they were touted to sign in the summer - although the same report claims the 21-year-old wants to stay at Barcelona until the summer.

Like Richarlison, Malcom is a Brazilian prodigy who is at his most devastating when he has space to utilise his blistering pace and tantalising dribbling ability.

Malcom has struggled for opportunities since arriving at Barcelona and his return of two goals from nine appearances in all-competitions doesn't give too much away, but a quick glance over the season which preceded his move away from Bordeaux reveals the true extent of his potency in the final-third.

In just 38 appearances across all-competitions Malcom managed to score 12 goals and provide 8 assists in the 2017/18 campaign, with his dynamic style of play proving to be a menace for defensive units across France all season long.

The manner in which Richarlison's star quality evokes feelings of genuine expectation when he is in possession would be mirrored by Malcom at Goodison Park, and if Brands is able to complete a transfer coup for the exciting prodigy there's no question it would be another huge step in the right direction for the Toffees.
