Manchester United’s season continued in fine form as the club as they saw off Watford this weekend.
The Red Devils weren’t at their best but got the three points needed to ensure they remain right in the hunt for Champions League football under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
United will be looking towards the summer as a pivotal period for the club in terms of bringing in new players and hanging on to their best ones, and the rumours continue to circulate around David De Gea, with the Sun today reporting that PSG will move for the Spaniard and match his wages if United choose to back away from a deal.
And here in the Tavern, we feel United might be best served allowing this deal to happen in all honesty, with the reported £350k a week demands from De Gea bordering on ridiculous.
Of course, in a day and age where wages do not really matter that much, it still seems a huge sum to pay for a goalkeeper who has at times not been at his best this season.
Whether that form is down to off-field distractions, or whether he has just made a few errors out of character remains to be seen, but United could move on from De Gea in all reality.
They already have Sergio Romero on the books, while young stopper Dean Henderson is also excelling at Sheffield United during a loan spell.
While De Gea remains a class act, there are others, and United could put their money elsewhere if needed.
