Everton will have the chance to quickly put their Merseyside derby defeat to Liverpool behind them when they take on Newcastle United in the Premier League at Goodison Park tomorrow.
And even though they left Anfield empty-handed, they can still go into their upcoming clash on a high given how they performed against their fierce rivals.
On the day, it was a strong display from the Toffees with Jordan Pickford’s howler being the only thing that denied them from walking away with a point.
As a result, manager Marco Silva is unlikely to make many changes if any for tomorrow’s game, though bringing back Kurt Zouma into the side for Michael Keane could be a very sensible move.
Against Liverpool, Keane looked very unconvincing at times. And while he has been in good form this season and worthy of the starts Silva has been giving him, £18m-rated (Transfermarkt) Zouma is easily the superior defender in practically every aspect.
Zouma is more efficient in the air, a much stronger tackler, quicker and less error-prone compared to the 25-year-old.
With the Frenchman besides Yerry Mina, the potential is there for Everton to have one of the best central defensive partnerships in the Premier League.
