Arsenal are right in the mix to compete for a top four spot in the Premier League this season, with Unai Emery enjoying a decent first season in charge.
Emery has tried to impose his own style of play on the Gunners after taking over from Arsene Wenger, a task which was always going to be a difficult one to implement.
However, he has done so admirably in the main, and has made some big decisions along the way, including the big call to not select high earning German midfielder Mesut Ozil on a regular basis.
Despite being a seriously talented midfielder, Ozil has simply not fit with the ethos of the club under Emery, and we here in the Tavern think that Ozil’s time as a Gunner could finally be up for good.
His spell with Arsenal has been a good one. He’s delivered some excellent individual performances, and become known as someone in the top flight who can lay on chances for his teammates, as well being able to dip in and amongst the goals himself.
Something though just hasn’t clicked this time around, and the likes of Alex Iwobi have routinely kept Ozil out of the frame at the Emirates in what is a worrying sign for the former Real Madrid star.
There will of course be interest in Ozil should Arsenal also decide his time is up, although we feel that’s a decision the club has already made.
Ozil has been class at times, and will leave with some memorable moments in the bank, but ultimately, his spell in the Premier League looks to be coming to an abrubt end.
