It was a good attacking display by Crystal Palace in their 3-2 victory against Cardiff City, a match where Andros Townsend was able to get his name on the scoresheet.

Prior to that, the 27-year-old had gone 13 Premier League games without finding the back of the net, and he has since come out to speak about how delighted he was to end that goal drought.

"My goal has been well overdue," Townsend told South London News. "I have been below-par over the last few weeks with injury and form, so it was nice to contribute again with a goal and an assist.

"I am happy and hopefully I can get another one in the last game and end the season on a high."

Well overdue is probably an understatement. For a player of his ability, Townsend should not be going on those sort of goal droughts, while his goalscoring record in general should be much better than what it currently is.

Few wingers in the Premier League can cut inside like how the England international does before curling an accurate effort towards goal.

Considering that, Townsend clearly has the technical skill to be a real goal threat, with his decision-making being the thing that is costing him. In essence, when to dribble and go for goal, and when to pass and make runs into the box.

If he can improve there, then Crystal Palace supporters should be seeing more displays similar to the one at the Cardiff City Stadium.
