Manuel Pellegrini brought Jack Wilshere to West Ham United in the summer to serve as his midfield playmaker but a predictable pattern has followed.

Pellegrini has been deprived of his deep-lying architect; Wilshere has spent the majority of the season sidelined through injury. No surprise there. Once upon a time Wilshere was tipped to become England's answer to Xavi, to blossom and orchestrate Premier League fixtures with an untouchable swagger.

That time is now firmly a thing of the past and his career at West Ham has proven that his unreliability will consistently undermine his obvious ability.

Wilshere's injury problems this season have left Pellegrini without a crucial cog in his machine: a playmaker to sit alongside Declan Rice and bring balance to the midfield unit.

But, according to a recent report from Spanish media outlet Sport, the Chilean has identified a solution in the shape of Barcelona's Denis Suarez.

The report claims that West Ham, Everton and Watford are all interested in signing the 24-year-old playmaker this month and Barcelona will demand at least €10 million (£9 million) for his signature.

On paper, Suarez is exactly the type of player Pellegrini needs at this moment in time. The former Manchester City talent is a creative-minded midfielder blessed with raw technical quality, and that could go along way to filling a notable void in West Ham's midfield.

Pellegrini's philosophy necessitates the presence of players who are comfortable receiving the ball in tight spaces and rising to the challenges which a possession-based model brings, and Suarez is exactly the type of player who would thrive in that environment.

Considering Suarez is available at such an attractive price-tag, Pellegrini is staring an opportunity in the face which is simply too good to miss, so he should do everything in his power to convince the powers that be to fund a January bargain for a player whose skill-set is perfectly aligned with his ideals.
