Everton got back to winning ways following their loss versus Manchester United last weekend after beating Brighton 3-1 at Goodison Park on Saturday.
A brace from summer signing Richarlison and a 50th-minute Seamus Coleman strike gave Macro Silva’s men all three points on the day, and Everton legend Leon Osman has since come out to praise the high-calibre squad the recent management at the club have started to assemble.
“All the players have bought into his [Silva] ideas very quickly and the side are really enjoyable to watch,” Osman told the Liverpool Echo. “If they can shore up defensively, there is real optimism around Everton at the moment.
“We’re not getting carried away but there are some real signs that they’re building together a great squad.”
While they have had significantly better league finishes in recent seasons under former manager David Moyes, compared to then, the quality of Everton’s squad has certainly gone up drastically in terms of individual talent.
The likes of Richarlison, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Andre Gomes are all technically gifted players who can help the club reduce the gap with the Premier League top six.
Going forward, the Toffees could probably do with another No.9 if they are to make such progress.
But under Silva’s management and with the financial backing of Farhad Moshiri, they are certainly on the right path, as alluded to by Osman.
A tricky trip to Stamford Bridge to face an in-form Chelsea team, rejuvenated thanks to the hiring of Maurizio Sarri, now awaits Silva’s side before the next round of international fixtures.
