‘Our worst player’, ‘Joy to watch’ – Tottenham fans debate key midfield performance on Twitter following United victory

The Tottenham Hotspur supporters were absolutely delighted in the Transfer Tavern last night after they claimed a huge three points in their bid to qualify for the Champions League.

Mauricio Pochettino welcomed Jose Mourinho and his Manchester United side to Wembley last night for a huge fixture in the context of the race to achieve a top-four finish. Tottenham got off to the best possible start with a goal after just 11 seconds from Christian Eriksen who stunned United with a perfectly placed left-footed strike which left David De Gea completely routed to the spot.

The Lilywhites later doubled their lead on the 28 minute mark as Phil Jones comically helped the ball into the back of his own net following Kieran Trippier’s fizzed ball across the face of goal.

Tottenham pushed for a killer third goal for the remainder of the match, but they failed to convert any of their chances whilst United rarely threatened Hugo Lorris’ goal during a worrying evening for the Red Devils faithful.

There were plenty of noteworthy performances in Tottenham white who could all stake a genuine claim for the man of the match award, but it was Christian Eriksen who scooped the accolade for his complete performance in midfield.

In the aftermath of proceedings, the Spurs fans heaped praise on Eriksen for his contribution to their 2-0 victory, but they also had some special words reserved for Dele Alli.

His noticeable improvement has been recognised by a handful of the supporters on Twitter who were eager to acknowledge the quality of Alli’s performance last night.

However, that opinion was not shared by the majority of supporters, as plenty of Tottenham fans slated the controversial star for his apparent lacklustre performance.

Here’s what the Spurs faithful had to say about Alli’s performance against Man United…
