Out of form South American would be a very clever signing for Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will be largely content with the progress of his side this season, with the North Londoners well in contention for a top-four finish as well as a tasty Champions League knockout round tie with Juventus to look forward to.

The Italian champions have looked vulnerable at times this season in both Serie A and the Champions League, and with Spurs having already defeated and drawn with Real Madrid in the group stages, Pochettino’s men will fancy their chances against the Turin giants. Fans share the sentiment of their manager, and are confident that their side will have enjoyed a successful year by the time the season draws to a close in May. However fans here in The Transfer Tavern are keen to see their side continue to improve, and told our landlord over a game of darts that this must begin in the January transfer window.

The club have a plethora of talented players, but chairman Daniel Levy must open the coffers to ensure that Spurs’ top men are convinced by the club’s ambitions, with European giants sure to come knocking for their star talents in the coming weeks and months. Fans told our landlord that they would like to see their attack strengthened this month to continue their remarkable goalscoring form, with Anderson Talisca highlighted as a potential top target. The Brazilian proved a sensation as Turkish side Besiktas stormed to the title last season, although his form has somewhat curtailed this year. Talisca smashed thirteen in only twenty-one league outings last year, but has added just three from seventeen this year. However this could play into the hands of Spurs, with the 23-year-old’s valuation having surely decreased due to his form.

The player is a dangerous winger who can also play down the middle, and would add further depth to an already devastating attacking line-up at Wembley. Get Talisca, and Spurs should finish in the top-four.

Spurs fans, could the signing of Talisca guarantee a top-four finish? Let us know!
