‘Outstanding’, ‘Great performance’ – Southampton fans react to Man City target’s display in Everton rout

Southampton supporters were very buoyant in the Transfer Tavern last night after seeing their side comfortably dispatch struggling Everton 4-1 at St Mary’s, a result which moved them back into the top half of the Premier League table.

Mauricio Pellegrino’s men have struggled in recent weeks and went into Sunday’s clash off the back of successive league losses, but they got back to winning ways in emphatic style. A brace from Charlie Austin as well as goals from Dusan Tadic and Steven Davis saw the Saints ease to a fourth league success of the campaign, in turn inflicting further misery on Toffees caretaker boss David Unsworth, and moving the South Coast outfit back into the top ten of the division.

Thus, there have been many delighted Southampton fans in the Tavern in recent times, with their side managing as many goals in open play yesterday (four) as they had managed in their previous 12 league matches.

And one man who was particularly influential against the Toffees was full-back Ryan Bertrand, who has been repeatedly linked with a move away in recent times, most notably with current Premier League leaders Manchester City.

The England international grabbed two assists for the Saints in victory on Sunday, and looked back to his best down the left hand side both going forward and in defence.

And several Southampton fans took to Twitter to heap praise on the 28-year-old…
