Owls to Blades – Would Sheffield United benefit from signing this striker from their rivals?

Sheffield United have usurped their local rivals Sheffield Wednesday this season, winning at Hillsborough and holding their big spending rivals to a 0-0 draw at Bramall Lane this term.

Under Chris Wilder, the Blades have taken back to life in the Championship like a duck to water, and are still within a shout of a top six spot, something out punters here in the Tavern are still confident their team can achieve if they can put together a good run of results between now and May.

The January transfer window was a bit of an underwhelming one in terms of personnel for United, and many United fans were hoping for more from their board.

The summer could be an interesting time at Bramall Lane, and one of the things that’s been mentioned this weekend over by the bar is the possibility of United signing Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes next season.

While Rhodes has failed at Wednesday since his big money move from Middlesbrough, the striker is an experienced head in the Championship, and could be a big threat if he is to find his form once more.

He sits on big wages at Hillsborough, and it might cause some waves in the City, but United are going to need proven forwards next season, and if manager Wilder feels he can get the best out of one of the Championship’s all time great goal getters, then the Blades might well be able to pick up a bargain.

Blades and Owls fans, how would this move go down? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
