West Ham United could be set to see one of their key players decide to call time on his career as a footballer at the end of the season.
The Argentine full-back is in the final year of his current deal with the Hammers and is expected to be leaving the London Stadium in the summer, despite having an automatic option to extend his current contract.
There were links suggesting that he had attracted interest from suitors in the Middle East, however, the 33-year-old is likely to call time on his playing days.
The Spanish media outlet have claimed that Zabaleta has assessed his current family situation and is prepared to move to back to Barcelona, where he once played for Espanyol.
Zabaleta has been enjoying his football at the London Stadium this season under Manuel Pellegrini, a man he has worked with for several years.
Although he has been a key and integral member of the team this year, the full-back will be 34 years old by the time the campaign is over.
It surely wouldn’t be too long before he were to be back involved within football though, as he has spent time involved with the media whilst also working towards his coaching badges.
