Arsenal continue to make a push this season and came out comfortable winners in their Europa League tie in Norway this week, giving them another boost heading into this weekend.
The Gunners are looking to kick on following the January window and signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping his troops can secure a top four finish and bring Champions League football back to the Emirates next term.
Here in the Tavern, our landlord is always keeping an eye on the transfer market and looking into Europe for what he sees as top talent who can light up the Premier League if given the chance.
One such player who he feels the Gunners could move to sign is Sporting Lisbon winger Gelson Fernandes, who is valued at a nifty £27m by website Transfermarkt.
The pacey wide-man has been in excellent form for the Portuguese giants for a number of seasons now and looks well on his to becoming a top player if he carries on. His dribbling, final ball, and finishing ability make him a dangerous opponent, and he is still of a young age, meaning he can develop further in the Premier League.
Despite Arsenal possessing a wealth of options in the attacking areas, Fernandes would offer something a bit different being that he looks a natural on either side of the attacking three.
Lisbon will certainly not want to lose him, but the Gunners will want more quality, and Fernandes certainly fits the mould of quality players who would jump at the chance of a move to the Premier League.
Arsenal fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
