Pardew reportedly keen on big name addition as West Brom fight for survival

West Bromwich Albion fans here in the Tavern are fearing the worst as their side is looking condemned to relegation, with the only possible saviour being some business this window.

Alan Pardew is currently displaying his worst managerial win percentage in his entire career, as his Baggies side have only managed to secure just the two victories in 11 games with the former Newcastle man in charge.

Something that needs to improve in what are desperate times, although a possible signing could go a long way to securing these improvements. As according to reports in the Daily Mail, West Brom are interested in Borussia Dortmund winger Andre Schurrle in what would be a loan deal, after being offered to Premier League clubs.

Indeed, for a side that currently holds one of the poorest goalscoring records in the Premier League, reinforcements are needed, and the experienced German may just be that missing piece to ensure goals are flowing at the Hawthorns once again.

Although, the 27-year-old’s wages are a possible deal breaker with the Baggies still having to stump up a large sum of money, even with his current club Dortmund offering to contribute it may prove to be too steep for their liking.

For a side that currently has Jonny Evans as their highest paid player on £100,000 per week, it proves unlikely that they’ll want to match this in a loan deal that depends on Dortmund’s generosity.

But, Schurrle does bring Premier League experience in abundance after making 44 appearances at Stamford Bridge, the type of quality that they could definitely benefit from with him struggling to break into the Bundesliga side.

With forwards Jay Rodriguez and Salomon Rondon only able to combine for 11 of the Baggies’ 19 goals so far this season, the addition of another attack-minded player would be a welcome sight for manager Alan Pardew.

Landlord’s Verdict:

The Hawthorns looks like an unlikely destination for the World Cup winner. As a player with exceedingly high wages, it may be too steep a mountain to climb!

Nevertheless, if they do decide to go ahead with a loan deal then they’ve got themselves a talented attacker who did manage to score 11 goals in the top-flight.
